    The city is the major creator of wealth, contributing about 80 percent of wealth throughout the world and with migration rate on the rise; research shows that by 2050, 70 percent of the world’s population will be city dwellers. The high urbanization rate has created various problems which include economic, environmental, demographic and social challenges. What effect will this spontaneous urbanization have on the world? What consequence does megacities expansion have on our environment? What are the steps to take in order to ensure safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly cities? These and other questions will be answered at the conference.

    To counter these challenges, there is need for cities to put in place various technologies. Different communities have championed the cause of sustainable cities, livable cities, resilient cities, smart cities and healthy cities but in order to achieve a systematic success, there is need for better alignment. The introduction of new concepts such as car free cities, low carbon cities and nature based solutions and technologies such as electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles may bring about an improved urban environment.

    There is a need for people from various sectors to rub mind together on the way forward and how best to tackle these challenges. On this basis, the conference was organized with world leading experts on transport planning, architecture, environmental science and exposures, physical activity, public health, all expected to be in attendance.

    The conference is aimed at promoting a healthy urban development by bringing together various professionals to proffer solutions and ensure a healthy city in the future.
